Brewery History

The founder of Newmans Brewer was Tom Newman. Tom was a chartered Water Engineer working in the Welsh Capital Cardiff when the concept of Newmans Brewery and its sister company 'The Celt Experience' were drafted up in 2001.

Starting up as a 5 barrel brewery in his father Teifion's home garage in 2003, Tom soon found success with a string of awards and upsized to a 20 barrel kit in 2005. during his period at the new premises Tome purchased Smiles Brewery plant from Colston Yard in Bristol and began to build for his next project.

In 2007, with wife Rebecca and two new staff member by his side the business made a huge step to Caerphilly in South Wales, which was the 'land of his father' Teifion Newman. The new 45 barrel plant was a mixture between Smiles (fermenters), butcombe (copper), Youngs (conditioning tanks and Hot liquor) and a series of specialist self designed vessels that Tom had fabricated in the UK. The new brewery was state of art and integrated systems that allowed full flexibility with product design and quality.

Between 2006 to date the brewery has not only been sucessful with a string of excellent awards, but has also be included in major UK contract listings.
